Sport
Through our integrated PSHEE curriculum, all children are encouraged to develop habits that promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Physical education is a key way in which we do this at The Rowans School. PE and Games is taught by a specialist sports teacher and each week the children have one PE session and at least one outdoor Games afternoon.
Indoor PE includes gymnastics, dance and movement.
Outdoor PE includes athletics, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders, tag rugby, basketball and tennis.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are involved in ‘home’ and ‘away’ match fixtures. These matches give the children an opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned during lessons in a match situation and also promote team spirit, good manners and an understanding of how their behaviour affects perception by others of their school.
Our annual Sports Day sees the whole School competing in their House Teams across a range of sports to win the much coveted House Cup.
