Admissions Process
Choosing the right school for your child is an exciting time and will possibly be one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. It is therefore vital that you have a full understanding of the School’s ethos and aims to enable you to make an informed choice, which is why we welcome parents to visit the School, meet the Head and speak to our Registrar, Mrs Sally Manhire, to answer any question you may have.
Once you are ready to proceed to registration, the information below provides an overview of how to register for entry to The Rowans School and guides you through the key stages of the admissions process.

Registering your child at The Rowans School
Registrations are accepted from birth, as soon as the Birth Certificate is available. There are a limited number of places on offer, so parents are advised to complete the Registration Form as soon as possible. You can complete our registration form here:
Once completed, you will be taken to our online payment screen where a £150.00 registration fee is payable. We also ask that a photograph of your child’s birth certificate is sent as an attachment via email to our Registrar, Mrs Sally Manhire (registrar@rowans.org.uk).
We pride ourselves on offering a nurturing introduction to school life, especially during those early years when key social skills and attitudes towards learning are developed and acquired for life.
Joining Kindergarten (3+) at The Rowans School
Admission into Kindergarten is at 3 years of age. Kindergarten places are allocated on a ‘first come, first served basis’ where we look at the number of days between the date of birth and the date of registration with us. We begin the process of offering Kindergarten places approximately 18 months prior to entry. The Rowans is co-educational, so we aim to maintain a good balance of girls and boys where possible.
Joining Reception (4+) at The Rowans School
Admission into Reception is at 4 years of age. The Rowans is selective from Reception upwards. Selection for Reception entry is based on a child’s potential to thrive in our School environment, which is established through an Observed Play Session, as well as a report from their nursery or current school. Our Observed Play Sessions for entry into Reception begin approximately 18 months prior to entry.

Our next Observed Play Sessions for Reception 2026 will be held on Monday 5th January 2026. | Entry into Reception in September 2028 |
| All children will be invited to attend an Observed Play Session at the school following their registration with the school. Our next Observed Play Sessions for Reception 2028 will be held on Monday 4th January 2027. Please contact our registrar, Mrs Sally Manhire (registrar@rowans.org.uk) to register your child for this date. We will also inviting all families eligible for this cohort to join us for our special Open Morning for Reception 2028 on Friday 16th October 2026. Please register your interest with our Registrar to hear more about these events nearer the time. |
Joining mid-Reception, Years 1 and 2 at The Rowans School
Occasional places arise from time to time in the older year groups. These places are also offered on the basis of an assessment and a report from the child’s current school. Parents should contact the School Office for current details of availability.
