Friends of The Rowans School
The role of the Friends is to organise social and fundraising events and activities to bring together parents, staff and sponsors and offer enjoyable, community experiences for the children and families at The Rowans. With their fundraising they aim to support the School’s annual chosen charities as well as to enrich the children’s education by providing equipment and materials to enhance the facilities of the School.
The Friends of The Rowans School is organised on a year-group basis and each is represented by at least one parent.
A number of regular events are organised throughout the year such as the Christmas and Summer Fairs and Quiz Night. The children also suggest events and enlist the support of The Friends, such as Movie Night which they organised in order to raise money for charity.
Major and minor projects are funded and recent successes include the tipi for the garden, including cushions and lighting, the marquee in which several events can be run during the Spring and Summer Terms, the World Map and tree and bird signs for the garden, the purchase of 25 iPads for the children to use, wooden construction toys, staging and lighting for productions, playground equipment as well as a ‘pirate boat’ at Kingston Hospital.
