We were delighted to welcome a member of staff from the South East Rivers Trust into The Rowans. As Year 2 were starting their new Topic of Rivers, this was a great introduction. The workshop included creating a river in the hall and teaching the children a wide range of facts about rivers, including how they are formed, the wildlife they contain and how we should care for them. The rest of the afternoon was spent looking at tyre ponds and the creatures they might provide habitats for, discussing river pollution and making bird cookies/cupcakes to attract more birds into our gardens.
