International Week – upcoming!

Next week we will be sailing off to many different countries for International Week. The children will arrive on Monday morning to ‘check in’ before using their boarding passes to set sail with The Rowans Voyages. They will spend the whole week ‘in’ their country with all their lessons taking on an international theme.

Chertsey Toy Museum

Year 1 enjoyed their visit to Chertsey Toy Museum today. This outing enhanced the recent learning they have been doing exploring old toys and new. They investigated how the materials that have been used to make toys have changed over time and the purposes for using the different toys.

A visit from Mrs Hubbard!

It was lovely to welcome Mrs Hubbard to visit on Wednesday afternoon. She very much enjoyed seeing the children in their lessons and learning about toys old and new from Year 1!

Deen City Farm visit!

On Wednesday School Council welcomed a representative Ben from one of our charities, Deen City Farm to deliver an assembly about their valuable work in our local community and how our fundraising will help them this year. Ben also brought his friend Billy the cockerel along to say hello to the children!

Reception Parents’ Maths Workshop

It was great to welcome many of our Reception parents into school on Monday evening for our Maths Workshop. Led by Mrs Kell and Miss Fookes, they shared the theory behind our mastery and growth mindset approach, as well as lots of tips and resources to help develop the children’s mathematical understanding.

Christmas Nativities!

It has been wonderful to welcome the families of our Kindergarten, Reception and Year 1 children into the school this week to enjoy the children’s nativity performances. The children performed with confidence and there was also a great sense of fun throughout.

Inter-House Football

The children enjoyed taking part in our Inter-House Football tournament during their Games lessons this week. Mr Barton and the staff team were impressed with the children’s skill, determination and teamwork.

The Rowans Christmas Fair!

What a pleasure it was to welcome so many current, past and prospective families to the school this morning for The Friends of The Rowans Christmas Fair. The children enjoyed performing some of their favourite Christmas songs throughout the morning and our Year Twos did a great job running The Rowans’ stall, selling hand-painted decorations …

Ahoy to our new boat!

There was further excitement on Wednesday as works began on replacing our playground boat. A welcome upgrade to our beloved and well-travelled vessel which was sadly no longer seaworthy! Our enormous thanks to The Friends and parents both past and present who have contributed to fundraising which made this purchase possible.

The Rowans Christmas Fair!

Next week will bring some extra sparkle to our School as our preparations for Christmas will be well underway. We of course have the Christmas Fair on Friday morning, 29th November organised by our wonderful Friends of the Rowans parents. We look forward to seeing you there!
